RIP: Tellah
Posted by Mike Blitz on September 19th, 2007
Finally back to the game…
I had a sense we were near the top of the Tower of Zot, and I was right. As we make our way up to the sixth level, we encounter Kain and Golbez. From this point on, events roll at us fast and furious. Hang on, as there’s a ton of stuff here…
First, we hand over the Earth Crystal to Golbez, who immediately reneges on his deal to hand over Rosa. Tellah, infuriated, attacks Golbez. Apparently, the rest of our party is happy to watch him take on Golbez by himself. They do nothing as Tellah unleashes a barrage of spells at Golbez. The attack culminates with a Meteor spell, which is enough to shake up Golbez and force him to flee. The price is high, however. Tellah crumbles to the ground, dead. With Golbez stunned, Kain snaps out of the spell that Golbez had put him under, and immediately joins us and tells us we’ve got to hurry to save Rosa. We run upstairs and free Rosa from a falling guillotine in the nick of time. Rosa and Cecil hug and kiss, and all is wonderful again. Next, Rosa, Cecil, and Kain have a brief conversation that confused me, but I thought may have been about Kain liking Rosa. This, of course, makes Rosa and Cecil uncomfortable.
With matters in the Tower of Zot concluded, our party starts to head out. Not so fast! Before we can get ten steps, a fourth sister, Barbariccia, attacks us. She is much stronger than her three previous sisters. She can even turn the neat trick of turning into a yellow tornado. She hits fairly hard at times, and we lose Cecil at one point to a one-two combo that takes him down from over 1,000 hit points to zero is a couple of quick rounds. Still, we manage to put on enough damage that after a dozen or so rounds, she shakes and vanishes.
This is all fine, but with the last sister gone, the entire Tower of Zot starts to shake and vanish as well, with our party inside it. Rosa saves us with a powerful Teleport spell. In short order, we find ourselves in Cecil’s room at the castle in Baron.
Status: Kiling Stuff with a Purpose. Unless You’re Tellah.

Welcome back!
I remember it really surprised me when Tellah died. However, in subsequent FF games, they’ve done the same thing, so I guess that it happening here (in what was FFII in the US when I originally played it) broke that ice.

Dang it, that previous comment was me. It didn’t save my info, odd.

Actually (and I’m sorry for being such a FF-geek), to I recall Barbariccia wasn’t a sister to the Magus Sisters, but their boss.
She’s actually the third of the four elemental Chaos Emperors (or Fiends or something like that), along with Scarmiglione and Cagnazzo, which you fought earlier. The fourth one is coming up, but not for a while…

Yeah, welcome back. Also, they didn’t help Tellah for the sole reason because he said he wanted to do it alone to get revenge for Anna (remember her? Edwards’ girlfriend who died earlier, Tellah’s daughter).
Confusing? Maybe so, but just you wait till you’ve played later games in the series…

Hello? I tire of visiting this page constantly only to see that there are still no updates…
Again, I know one has to make priorities in life, but this project has been such fun to follow that I really hope you’re not giving it up.

October 8th, 2007 at 11:08 am
Where’d you go?
October 8th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
I’m guessing that real life thing got back in his way.
Hope all is OK!
October 9th, 2007 at 7:24 pm
It’s crazy how we all know what happens next but we all want him to tell us anyway! Just a proof ihe does a great job telling us about it!:)
If he could just come back:(

For reals. He says RIP: Tellah, but it seems like we should be RIPping him T_T Come back to your massive crowds of fans. We overflow with joy at the reading of your words
October 11th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
Yeah Mike, you’re very much missed. But we understand when life gets in the way. Hope everything’s working out well for ya.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:49 am
I can’t really say more than the above people have said. I’ve missed you, I’m sorry your busy, I hope you’re back soon…stuff along those lines.
But yeah, seriously, you’re like a preacher, we’re like your wee follower people. We cannot go on without your words of wisdom of FF!

You know, seeing as the last post was almost two monthes ago, I doubt we’ll be seeing anymore of Mr. Blitz’ takes on his Final Fantasy experiences.
November 3rd, 2007 at 4:20 am
That’s not very hopeful. You may be right though, unfortunately…

I’m hoping for a hiatus. This project is clearly too addictive for him. He will likely end up saying that he can’t update until major breaks (Christmas, summer, etc). If I’m not mistaken, he did say months of no updates were possible. We’ll just have to check less often T_T I’ve reduced my check-cycle to twice/week now. I used to check 1~……10 times a day
November 5th, 2007 at 4:35 pm
Same here. I check every two-three days now, I used to check two or three times a day.

Alright, Mike needs to give one of us keys to the kingdom, so we can make a post or two for him
Or he at least needs to make a quick response (no more than two sentences) telling us what’s up.
November 20th, 2007 at 4:07 pm
Yeah, the keys or an explanation.
November 20th, 2007 at 8:40 pm
Life2 you, mike!
November 20th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Well, it’s been 2 months now, so either he’s really busy, he gave up or he’s dead. So I guess we won’t hear from him in a while

There are several blogs like his (like RPGrewind or the one I tried to create in french) but his really was the best, I think!
too bad
November 22nd, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Well, I thought that he might post a Thanksgiving day post seeing as he lives in the United States, but it looks like this blog is now dead after all.
November 22nd, 2007 at 4:41 pm
Terribly ironic that his last post was partially a eulogy. However, I will not give up on him. It’s just like shadow…[SPOILER] if you wait until the very last second, he’ll return
November 30th, 2007 at 12:19 am
I was hopping that there would have been a revival for but i guess not.
I will never give up though! nevar!
December 7th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Cmon already, those last seconds have shown up!
December 8th, 2007 at 12:24 am
Uh, what’s that link supposed to be to Random Passerby?
December 8th, 2007 at 7:09 pm

December 16th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
*sigh*
December 19th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
Well, just for the heck of it…HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!:D
December 22nd, 2007 at 12:12 pm
Someone needs to hack me keys to the kingdom (and tell me where the door is to login xP). That way, I can at least make a post declaring a TEMPORARY hiatus (I might be in denial).
December 23rd, 2007 at 12:20 am
Well, it’s a Wordpress, so you would need his username and pssword. But you could always make your own wordpress, or try to find out his email and send him a message. I’m sure if you look hard enogh you’d be able to find it. As for me, well, I’m pretty sure Mike’s gone for good, so from now on I’ll be checking back less frequently. Maybe twice a month instead of once a week. Hopefully he does get back, and soon. If he does show up, will someone please click on my name and leave me a message at the Final Fantasy Wikia Wiki and let me know. 100 Gil to anyone who does. Thanks, and see ya.

I just read through all of these comments. Thanks for all the support, patience, and comments during the three months I was gone. I’m very sorry to have left everyone hanging for that long without a word.
I think I said this last time as well, but I will try to let everyone know what is going on a bit better in the future. It only takes a few minutes to make an informational post, even if it’s something like, “Life’s crazy now. Not sure when I’ll be back.”
Life does look to be insanely busy through early May, so the next four and a half months may still be somewhat irregular. January, in particular, looks packed.
