Quick Update…
Posted by Mike Blitz on June 10th, 2008
Sorry for the sluggish posting this past week. I leave tomorrow for Japan, and I’ve been scrambling to get ready to depart. Things are still moving forward here, though.
I have started Final Fantasy V, and I’ve written some notes about it. I’ve also written the review for Final Fantasy IV. I’m going to do my best to start posting once I get to Japan, but my internet access may be spotty.
In any case, I’m still here, just a bit scattered for the next couple of weeks. I’ll try to make the next post on June 13.

Don’t worry about it, Mike, you’ve been posting fairly regularly again recently, so one or two days without posts isn’t a big problem, for me at least.
I hope you enjoy Japan. I’m sure it will help you brush up on the language which will, of course, help with playing the games

Are you moving to Japan, or just visiting, if you don’t mind my asking?

Look for hidden treasure chests in Japan. Also, while you’re there, grind and level up. I’m not talking about the game haha.

X-Boco, that sounds like the beginning of a wonderful comedic routine about “what if Japan was really like in RPGs?”
Mike, when you’re there see if night time comes eventually, or it comes only when you’re reasdy to sleep.

Man, I’d love to go to Japan only to see all the text screens over their heads when they speak!

Pity they say the same three sentences over and over.

Actually, they now have Voiceacting in Japan. Sorry Edgemaster.

He he he. Japan would be great, if weren’t for all the random encounters. You’re just walking along, enjoying the nice country when BAM a group of pesky Goblins attack!

The Goblins are however limited to the area around Tokyo airport. By the time you get to Mount Fuji you’ll be surrounded by Adamantoises instead.
As for shops, Mike shouldn’t even check out the shops around Tokyo airport. They are the cheapest shops in all Japan, but they only sell crap. Contrarily of what a Westerner would expect, to buy the real great things you have to travel to a four house village in the Northmost point of Hokkaido or something.

I always stock up on Elixers in America first (which, by the way, is a real drink).

I would have thought the Japanese shops were good, what with the Phoenix Downs in them! You never know when you might die suddenly, they could be helpful
