Moogle Mania

Posted by Mike Blitz on September 25th, 2008

moogle.jpgWe return to the Moogle grove and jump in the small hole where the creature disappeared. We quickly end up in an underground passage filled with fast flowing waterways. Random creatures attack us as we swiftly flow downstream. This is a fun, brisk area, but shortly we find ourselves at the end. There we run into a massive Tyranosaurus and the Moogle that we first saw way back in the grove. The Moogle flees through an exit, but the Tyranosaurus decides that we’d make a tasty lunch.

We pour on the damage to the beast, but he just won’t go down. Fortunately, we’re easily able to maintain health in our party easily. The fight drags on and on, but finally Galuf lands a Bios spell does more than 1,000 damage. Aha! Three rounds later the fight ends with the mighty dinosaur crashing to the ground. Victory.

We quickly exit the underground area and follow the Moogle to a large forest to the northeast. There run into an entire village of the Moogles. Here we pick up some treasure. We also dress up as a Moogle to trick a guard and get an Elven Cape.

Appranently Moogles can communicate telepathically, as one of the Moogles in the forest lets Krile’s pet Moogle know where we are. This sets her in action, and before we know it, we’re on the back of a huge dragon heading back to the castle where Galuf and Krile live.

I think you skipped some stuff here. One minute you’re grinding south of Lugor, the next you’re “returning” to the Moogle grove. It seems like something’s missing.

  2. Edgemaster Says:

Yeah, I think you missed a day or a post didn’t go online or something…

By the way, a couple of undead bosses in the series (like the Tyrannausaurus you just fought can be done for pretty quickly…with a Phoenix Down! But that would be quite boring stuff, wouldn’t it? ;)

  3. Edgemaster Says:

    Déja vu…:P

  4. Chocobo Knight Says:

Lol, I never got to see this when it was misplaced in order, so this is the first time I’m seeing this one. Anyway, good progress, and great picture Mike, where did you find it?

  5. Jaime Says:

Apparently, Moogles are only telepathic in FFV’s world. In FFIX they communicate by mail. Guess who gets charged with the task of delivering said mail.

  6. Edgemaster Says:

So while we are all waiting for the next post, what are you all playing now?

Right now I’m split between finishing Xenosaga 1 (I’ll start the second to final dungeon soon) and Apollo Justice on DS (I’m about half-way done) and so far it’s good but the Phoenix Wright series was MUCH better!

  7. Windark Says:

I’m in the start of both FF 8 and 9, but what I’m truly addicted to now is Spore on the PC.

  8. Big D Says:

    Currently playing Sonic Chronicles

I am actually playing Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and loving it! It improves pretty much on everything from the first FF Tactics Advance, and I really liked that game as well.

I know the kiddy graphics and lackluster story of the games aren’t for everyone, but I really don’t mind them. I can play more gorgeous and mature RPGs with my PS2. ;D

  10. Chocobo Knight Says:

Yeah, I’ve got FFTA2 too, and you’re right, it has kiddy graphics and a lackluster story, but I’m still enjoying it quite a lot

Hey, Windark! I just got Spore, too. Now if I could just get my son away from it, I could give it a try. Did you like it?

  12. Windark Says:

Yeah, I liked it (note the past tense), but when you get 5+ races to Space Age, it’s kinda hard to get excited about building a massive empire, when your citizens constantly need help for example doing their laundry. It is not nice when you’re in the other side of the galaxy, you get a distress signal about enviromental catastrophe, pirate raid, or an attack by malicious cyborg-entities. But I still like designing my own creations.

Your remarks are similar to others I’ve heard, then. Fun for a while, but not a lot of longevity once you’ve played through it a few times.

My six-year-old son is absolutely loving it at the moment, and his sister keeps asking when she can play. It’s been fun watching him play, that’s for sure.
