Mechwarrior Final Fantasy Style
Posted by Mike Blitz on March 1st, 2008
When we arrive on Earth, we land near the Tower of Babel. It turns out that Golbez has already awakened the massive Mechwarrior. It lumbers out of the tower and starts destroying mountains. Then help arrives, as all our long lost comrades converge on the robot to battle the beast. It’s like a Final Fantasy All-Star Game, as Yang, Edward, Cid, and even Porum and Palom are back.
Someone comes up with the idea of having Cid drop us into the giant so that we can destroy it from within. Everyone thinks this is a wonderful idea, and a little while later we find ourselves inside the beast, winding our way through its insides in search of a way to destroy it. Various laser beams and mini-robots attempt to stop us, but we are a force to be reckoned with now. Infused with confidence from our victory over Bahamut, we roll over our opponents.
After a bit, we find a safe spot where we rest and save our game. Shortly thereafter, we come upon what will surely be a battle for the ages. Blocking our way are the Four Elemental Lords: Scarmiglione, Rubicante (didn’t we kill him about five times already?), Cagnazzo, and Barbariccia. They look ready for war…

Be warned, I was stuck on this spot for AGES! Luckily that save point was there, or I believe I would have stopped playing.

I imagine that you’ve already started to battle with these four, and maybe even won, if not stop reading NOW.
[a bit of spoiler space…]
I could not win this battle until I figured out that the key to the battle was to treat S, R and C as meat shields for V. That’s all, really - try to kill the other three as fast as possible and saving as much MP as you can for the last one.

Windark,
Eek.
Jaime,
I’ll hold off on reading the spoiler for the moment. Thanks for the warning!
