Lost in Final Fantasy IV

Posted by Mike Blitz on January 7th, 2008

question.jpgWith little idea of what to do next, we start randomly flying around the overworld. I try to get us back into the underworld, where supposedly we can use the uber hovercraft function of this ship, but the mountain to the underworld is sealed, and I have no more lava rocks to toss into the bottomless well. Humm.

We continue randomly searching, and as we fly over the lands we’ve explored in the previous months or our journey, memories of our adventures flood back. We see Mt. Ordeals, where Cecil became a Paladin. We see the desert city of Kaipo, the ruins of Fabul, and the castle of Troia. We also stumble into that puzzling, ominous, and massive Tower that shoots up into the sky. Aha! Perhaps the hovercrafting ability of the Enterprise allows us to land on the tower!

Um, no.

Baffled, we fly about the tower and try to land nearby. As before, we can’t land anywhere near the place, and we can’t approach from far away because of the ring of mountains that surrounds the plain the tower sits on.

Stumped, we’ll call it a day and see if we can remember more tomorrow. I’m nearly sure I’ve missed something important in the text, as my Japanese feels incredibly rusty, and I’ve forgotten many of the details from August, when I was playing the game regularly.

(Please, no hints, though, as I want to see if I can get myself out of this mess…)

It’s hard to not give a hint here, so I guess I’ll just shut up…

    So close, though…

Thanks, Edgemaster. I figured it out!
