Let the Final Assault Begin!
Posted by Mike Blitz on January 3rd, 2007
Last night I finished one more training run into this alternate Pandemonium. We cleared all the four areas on the fourth level, which helped us gather up some awesome weapons, useful armor, and a pile of cash. We probably could have continued on to make the final assault from there, but it might have been cutting it close, and it doesn’t take long to get out of the place once you know the shortcuts. We jogged back to town for one final night’s rest.
We also picked up two “Flay” spell books, which appears to be a great offensive spell. Gordon and Joseph are using those spells on every occasion. This should give us four solid offensive spells for the final battle.
This is it. The final push for victory in Final Fantasy II. We are stacked with potions, armed to the teeth, and well trained in our solid offensive spells. Onward, into the breach!

The only ting to say here is this: GO GO GO!
Oh, and the mentall image of a spell called flay making a huge explosion is funny. Flay indeed.

I just wanted to say that I’ve been following your adventure through the world of Final Fantasies from December, and as a devoted FF-fanboy I think you’ve made an excellent and admirable choice on how to spend your time. ;D
So good luck on the path you’ve chosen, and may you have strenght to pass the ten other games after this one too!

PS. I have to nitpick, but the character in Soul of Rebirth that you *think* is Gordon is actually his deceased brother Scott. Hope I didn’t spoil anything, I just wanted to clarify that for you.

Sami: Thanks for the encouragement! It’s been a lot of fun so far. I’ve enjoyed Final Fantasy II much more than Final Fantasy I, so if the games keep getting more interesting, I’ll be very satisfied.
Oops! Thanks for the correction on Gordon. You are totally right about the Gordon/Scott mixup. I actually knew that the one in Soul of Rebirth was the dead one, but got the names mixed up somehow. That won’t be the last mistake I make, that’s for sure!
random passerby: Thanks! “Flay” actually makes all these little black balls in the air, then they snap down onto the enemy, changing its color to something like a photo negative. Then the spell blows up on them. Nice quick animation, unlike the Ultima spell animation sequence, which is neat but takes forever to play out.
