Eaten by a Giant’s Brain

Aha! I didn’t have to travel much farther to learn more. Almost immediately after our fight with the Elemental Lords, we come upon the mechanical heart of the beast. We’ve got to destroy this in order to defeat the giant.
The battle begins shortly, but before it starts FuSoYa tells us to destroy the defensive, healing orb first. Once the battle begins his meaning is clear. The heart of the beast has three orbs: one large central orb; one small defensive healing orb; and one offensive laser orb. The defensive orb casts a healing spell on the main orb that raises its health by 3,000 points.
We aim for that first, and take it out with relative ease. “Cake!” I’m thinking. Then we target the offensive orb, and take that out quickly as well. “Wow! This is easy!”
Then in an instant it changes. The central orb sends over two, black balls that each eat up a party member. In a flash, we’ve got two people down. And just as I get one person back up, another two balls come floating over and eat two more of our party members! Argh! Stop!
When I look over again, the central orb has now created another two supporting orbs, just like at the beginning of the fight. The defensive orb immediately starts healing the larger orb for 3,000 points a round, and the offensive orb starts zapping us with laser beams. Good Grief! So much for easy!
We manage to get our party members back up and functioning, and then once again we take down the supporting orbs. But once again the larger orb starts sending over those instant-death balls on our party. No! Enough already!
We repeat this process a couple of more times but we are fighting an uphill battle. In a few short minutes, our party is dead. Fortunately, I went back and saved the game right after the battle with the Four Elemental Lords, so I don’t have to repeat that fight.
And I might be overly optimistic here, but I think I have a plan to beat these black balls of death. The larger core only sent over the black balls when both of the supporting orbs were eliminated. So perhaps I can avoid the black balls of death by taking out the defensive orb first, the main orb second, and the small offensive orb last.
I’ll try that tomorrow.
Status: Dead Again, but with a Plan!

Hmm, I hardly remember this battle, but I do remember that it’s a piece of cake compared to the battles yet to come.

Sami,
Yup. Worked well. I’ll post it later today.
Edjemaster,
Onward, into the light!
Drake,
Yes, I agree. This was easy once you figured out the trick.
