Death By Garuda, Part II

Posted by Mike Blitz on March 19th, 2007

garuda2.jpgOn a positive note, we lasted about ten rounds against Garuda this time. On a negative note, once it blasts us with chain lightning, we are in a world of hurt. That lightning kills one or two of our party, and severely wounds the rest. We simply can’t revive and heal ourselves fast enough.

To be totally honest, I was just plain stupid here. I had wanted to change one of my party members over to a dragoon, but for some inane reason, I thought the dragoon job option wasn’t open to me yet. But after this this battle, it dawned on me that “dragon rider” was the Japanese equivalent, and yes, that job option is available. D’oh! I think it’s high time I switched a party member or two over to Dragoons, so as to be able to jump and attack the Garuda.

We’ll try that plan of attack tomorrow. First, I’ll probably grind for a couple of levels in order to get the Dragoon’s job level up a bit.

I’ve been having trouble with the Garuda battle for almost a mont, and have used many combinations of characters, but to no avail.

    You and me both.

I came pretty close this last time, though. I think two dragoons and another level should do the trick. The jumping dragoon made a big difference in the last battle.

Tomorrow I’ll change my knight to a dragoon. That’ll give me 2 dragoons, and white mage, and a geomancer. Before the fight, I’ll go to the dragon tower and level up to 31 with everyone.
