Cid Lives!

Posted by Mike Blitz on January 21st, 2008

ff4_cid.jpgSuccess! Cid was in the infirmary at the castle hospital! Despite being in poor condition after his fall from the Enterprise, Cid rouses himself out of bed and proceeds to customize the Falcon so that it will be capable of flying over the molten lava of the underworld.

After Cid is finished, wishes us luck and heads back to the infirmary. We lift off on the Falcon, point our bow to the southeast, and set sail. This time we scoot right over the lava fields. Within a short while, we’re flying over a vast lava sea and looking for any signs of life. After a bit, we come upon more land, and almost immediately locate a small town. We drop down to check it out.

Apparently, this is Tomra, a small dwarf town. We explore the town shops. There are a number of weapon and armor upgrades we’d like to buy, but we are well short of cash. I’m not up for grinding again at the moment, so we buy the weapon upgrades, which we can afford, then head out of the town. We’ll continue our search for the Sealed Cave tomorrow.

Status: Vacationing in Tomra.

In my opinion, weapons are preferable over armour, but maybe I’m just a kamikaze fighter. It’s better to kill the enemy so fast, that it can’t strike back!

  2. Chocobo Knight Says:

Mike, that Cid is the wrong Cid in the pic. That Cid is the one from FF7. Then again, you might have just chosen a random Cid, not really caring

  3. Big D Says:

What’s up with the picture of FF7 Cid?

  4. Drake Says:

I usually buy armor first, then weapons, but sometimes a new piece of armor is triple the cost of new weapons. So in most cases it’s easier to come and get armor that’s a little old then upgrade to the newest models everytime.

  5. Mike Blitz Says:

    Chocobo, Big D,
Are the two Cids the same, but just in different games? Or are they two completely different characters?

    Windark, Drake,
I’ve usually been buying weapons first. Occasionally for back-row casters I’ll go the other way and buy armor first though. Final Fantasy IV is the only game where I’ve had to think about these decisions however. I think I may skip every other armor upgrade from now on, however, as it’s too expensive to buy everything.

  6. Edjemaster Says:

Cid is ALWAYS a completely different character in every FF. There’s even one in which he’s a vilain. Only the name is the same from Cids to Cids.

Quick reminder : remember to keep two save files! Might be useful later…

  7. Mike Blitz Says:

    Edjemaster,
No kidding? The things I learn from you guys! I figured since he was always messing around with his airships in the game that somehow all these Cids were the same. This reminds me of the time I learned that Santa Claus wasn’t real.

    Time to change the pic…

  8. Drake Says:

Santa Claus isn’t real? What do you mean he isn’t real? Is the Tooth Fairy real? Am I real? Are you real? Aaaah!

  9. Edjemaster Says:

Santa’s real, I went to school with him. As for the tooth fairy, I did date her once of twice, but allof her questions about teeth anoyed me…

  10. Chocobo Knight Says:

I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny when I was rather young and I caught my Dad sneaking about the garden (with terrible stealth) putting easter eggs down…

And yes, though many Cids are similar, and all have got something to do with Airships, none are the same, apart from in direct sequels
