Humm. I'm really curious now, but I'm also curious to see where this Crystal Tower leads. So many choices. :)

Terpkristin: I might have to reread some of those letters. I skimmed through a few of them that didn't important at the time.

SuperMegaman: Humm. Tempting. A great reward for fixing the pendant? That might make the hunt worthwhile. :)

I really don't wanna spoil the surprise, Mike, but I will say you should do the pendant quest. The reward is quite worth it.

If you've finished all your letters/aren't getting anything new from anybody, you should be able to find SOMEONE who can help you with it. If not in the 2nd town, then definitely in one you've visited before.

I looked at my saved game last night and sure enough, the Level 8 Summoning spells I have are both the ones that call Bahamut. They are the same spells.

I looked around on the net as well, and found just a little information about the store in Eureka that sells the spells. According to that information, you can't buy the spells unless you have defeated Bahamut.

I think either that information is wrong or the Japanese version of FF3 is a bit different. I do know that I first entered the Bahamut cave a couple of weeks ago, but I never went much past the entrance at that time.

Well as far as I know, in the original FF3, Cave of Bahamut contains Bahamut who must be defeated to get his summon, and Lake Dohr contains Leviathan (the sea serpent you talk about), who also must be defeated. Obviously the DS version, or just the Japanese version is different. Also the guy on the horse is Odin, another recurring one who is so cool! :)

I just started Final Fantasy III over because I still couldn't beat the Garuda boss monster! But from what I've heard from others and with my experience with the other games, the player must usually defeat Bahamut to obtain his spell. The only exclusions of this rule that I can think of offhand are Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX. I still have not completed Final Fantasy III though, so I won't debate about that. I hope that I have not spoiled too much, but I don't think I did. Drake out.

Chocobo Knight: I'll double check the names, but I'm pretty sure the Level 8 summons spell I bought in Eureka was the same one I got when I fought Bahamut in the cave. If it's not, the names are nearly identical.

Terpkristin: I don't think I've sent letters to everyone again since leaving the Forbidden Land of Eureka. I got so used to sending something and getting nothing back that I've been pretty lax about following through on it. If I see one of those Mogu's I generally fire off a letter, but I haven't been going out of my way. There are a few letters that I'm not 100% sure of, but I don't think I've missed anything about the pendant.

From looking for a hint a couple of weeks ago, I read that the smith in the second town in the game (I forget the name offhand) may or may not fix the pendant. If he doesn't, you're supposed to find a Legendary Blacksmith, who wanders around the cities. I haven't really been in cities since leaving Eureka. Maybe that's why I haven't triggered the next stage?

SuperMateo: I'll double check the names again, but I did buy and was able to have my Summoner learn all three spells. I also used them before fighting Bahamut because I remember wanting to see what the animation sequences looked like. Level 6 is a horseman that fires off some sort of an instant kill spell. Level 7 is a water dragon that creates a Tidalwave (that's the actually name of the spell in Japanese). Level 8 is Bahamut, which calls a big ass white/gray dragon to blast your opponents with a fiery explosion.

Very strange. Maybe the Japanese and English versions are slightly different here?

As far as I know, players need to fight the level 6-8 summons to earn them, so I am surprised that Eureka's store sold them. You bought them, but are you able to use level 6 & 7 summons before engaging them?
