A Quick Update…

Posted by Mike Blitz on 7th January 2008

Vacation is over and life has gotten uber-busy in the span of 24 hours. I’m not confident how consistent I’ll be able to post in January, but for the time being I’m going to keep trying to make daily posts and keep playing Final Fantasy IV. I’m pretty sure I’ll miss some days, but I’ll do my best.

It’s been great to be back these past couple of weeks, though. It’s reminded me how much fun this project has been for me. I’d also like to thank everyone that’s been posting comments. The discussion on the games has made the project much more enjoyable. I started as a complete newbie to Final Fantasy (and I pretty much still am a newbie), but it’s been great to learn about the games from all of you.

Getting Back on Track…

Posted by Mike Blitz on 11th September 2007

It’s been about three weeks since I last played Final Fantasy IV and last posted here. When I made that last post, about the Tower of Zot, I was actually a couple of hours beyond that in the game. I took notes about those two hours of play, but some of the details are sketchy. Over the next few days, I’ll be fleshing out those notes and putting them up as posts, but if you see something that seems goofy, please feel free to tell me. In many ways I’ll be working from memory here. When I do that, I tend to omit some things.

Anyway, my life has settled down again to the point that I think I’ll be able to resume regular posting. For the next eight months or so, my work looks to be insanely busy, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep going at the daily pace I was able to sustain over the summer. Still, I want to keep going, and am going to try to make at least three posts a week. With luck, I’ll be able to make more, but for now, I’m aiming for a Monday/Wednesday/Friday posting schedule, and making random posts on the other days when possible.

On another note, I believe I’ve replied to everyone’s comments. If I’ve missed a question or a comment, please let me know.

I’ll start on that Mon/Wed/Fri schedule with a post tomorrow that picks up the game where I left off.

Sorry for the Disappearance…

Posted by Mike Blitz on 10th September 2007

I’m sorry about the sudden disappearance. Work suddenly went brutally crazy for a couple of weeks, and it involved a ton of writing. I needed a few days to decompress after that.

I’m aiming to resume tomorrow. I’ll reply to any comments from the past couple of weeks, and hope to make a new post from Final Fantasy IV as well.

Final Fantasy Retrospective

Posted by Mike Blitz on 16th August 2007

Thanks to regular poster Edjemaster for this information about Gametrailers.com’s excellent 13-part Final Fantasy Retrospective series. This video series takes a look back in time and follows the Final Fantasy series through its origins and history. Currently, the first five parts have been released, and new segments are added weekly.

I watched the first two parts this morning. Each video segment is about 10 minutes long. The content and production quality are top-notch. If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy, these are not to be missed.

EDIT: I should also mention that spoilers abound in the videos, so if you haven’t played a particular Final Fantasy game yet, you may want to hold off on watching that particular element.

Enjoy!

Newly Added: Recent Comments Links

Posted by Mike Blitz on 16th July 2007

There have been quite a few more comments on posts over the last couple of weeks. It was getting trickier for me to find new comments when I was looking at the site, so I’ve added a link section down on the left side that links to the latest few comments.

I think this will make it a bit easier for people to find and track discussions.
