This blog chronicles my adventures trying to play all the Final Fantasy games in order, in their original Japanese. The idea behind the blog is that we often play games for the stories they create, and sharing of that storytelling can be entertaining in itself.

To be honest, I’d be amazed if I ever finish this project. I have about 30 minutes of gaming time per day, sometimes less, so the pace is rather slow. Also, Japanese adds a level of difficulty to the games, so I generally spend quite a bit of time lost, which means that I sometimes make little progress in any given week. Also, I had never played any of the Final Fantasy games in any language before starting this adventure. I am starting to get a better idea on how things work, but for the most part I stumble around, half understanding things, and hoping I wander into a solution for any given problem.

At the moment, I’ve completed the first four Final Fantasy games. I’ve just started on Final Fantasy V.

To get around the site, use the categories links on the right side to read the story for each game. If you’d like to read the whole story, starting with the oldest archives is probably easiest. As always, comments and feedback are welcome.

One thing to note: there are spoilers in the story descriptions, so take care! Also, if you would mind from holding off on hints that help me solve things, it would be greatly appreciated. A big part of the fun for me is seeing how well I can do on things using only my own wits to get by.
